Hello everyone! Last week in the post I made an introduction about whaling and the activists that are against this activity. Also, the controversy that the anti-whaling activists are causing because of their methods was mentioned; this week I’m writing about a case in particular. It’s about a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, activist Tarah Millen.
This anti-whaling activist from Canada and her Sea Shepherd’s partners are being blamed for wasting too much money on travelling to Japan when there are Whaling ships in the East Coast of Canada. Also, the way the “Sea Shepherds” fight the whale meat processing ships in Japan is considered extremist and they haven’t been stopped because of the harassment against the fishermen from the Whaling ships. On the other hand, they could be already in jail for doing in this in Canada. In resume, “she's going to Japan to bully the people there because they're too polite/meek to fight back” as Erica Ueda wrote in her article. The “Sea Shepherds” are also criticized because of the bad reputation they gave to all the anti-whaling activists that still use “more ordinary” methods.
I think is not about how extremist the anti-whaling activists are but how they should act to get what they’re looking for, the forbiddance of Whaling. I don’t think this people started harassing Whaling ships just because they wanted to or because it is easier. There is so much at stake when the Sea Shepherd goes across the Antarctic seas just to stop whaling. They have come to a point where they have to use these extremist methods because nothing else is working.

Hello susie =DID! I really love your topic! It is really interesting that you are describing the other point of the situation of the whaling. I mean, a lot of people think that just because they belong to a group of anti-whaling activists, they are doing the right think, but sometimes they use methods that could affect people. I think that if you are trying for some peace between the animals and humans, you don't have to make war between humans. I agree with you that sometimes people don't understand and they need to try other methods, but I’m not agree in that they need to use extremist methods.

A lot of people think that the animals don’t feel, think or that they are there to serve us and it is not true! I’m talking about animals too, my blog is about fox hunting and I also feel angry about the things that people do to the animals. Humans don't realize that we depend of animals and the nature. We think that they are always going to be there but that is not going to happen, if we still doing the same things and thinking the same way, we are going to have problems in the future. Finally I think that if more people get involved in this kind of groups, they could have more opportunities and they would not have the necessity to use extremists methods.
